Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, Lesley Laird MP, said:

“Boris Johnson’s letter to the EU shows he is living in a dangerous fantasy land.

“His demand that the backstop be scrapped puts at risk the relative peace and stability in Northern Ireland secured by the last Labour government.

“The clock is ticking towards a disastrous no-deal Brexit that will cost people their jobs and put our NHS at risk.

“It’s time for Boris Johnson to get real and take the risk of a dangerous no-deal Brexit off the table.”
