Commenting on new figures which show spending on roads and transport by local authorities has fallen by £69million, Labour’s transport spokesperson, Colin Smyth MSP, said:

“Scotland’s roads and wider transport system is beginning to crumble after years of austerity.

“Despite the clear need for improvements, £69million has been cut year-on-year.

“You cannot have a world class transport system on the cheap.

“In government, Scottish Labour will invest in our communities so we have a transport system that delivers for the many.”
